If you're on the East Coast, you are surely preparing for the apocalypse aka Hurricane Sandy. For days the media has been building up Sandy creating sheer panic across the states.

Here in New York, the rain hasn't started yet but school has been cancelled for today AND tomorrow. My hometown is near a beach town and people are posting pictures of the flooding and the huge waves. It's rather scary.

Here in New Rochelle, there's some wind but nothing drastic but me and my roommates are still prepared; we bought candles, flashlights, junk food, and duct taped our windows up.

But, with two days to completely relax, we're bound to get a little bored so here's some tips to stay busy while held up inside and take advantage of Sandy.

1. Catch up on your TV shows

The weekdays are super busy in my neck of the woods so I rarely get time to sit down and watch television anymore. I'm taking full advantage of today and catching up on Gossip Girl, Vampire Diaries, and whatever else my heart desires.

2. Do those Pinterest crafts you've been waiting for

We all have a board on pinterest full of fun crafts and DIY projects that we never have a chance to do. Take some materials from around the house and get crafting! You finally have the time.

3. Finish that book that is sitting on your night stand.

I've been reading Prep for months now and feel like I'm nowhere near finished. I just don't have the time to read nowadays so these next two days are perfect for finishing whatever book you have in your hand. This is the perfect activity if the power goes out so get ready!

4. Online Shop

If your bank account can handle it, treat yourself to those new winter boots or that cute wallet you've been eyeing. I am broke therefore I'll be window online shopping all day, especially with the new Maybooks and MayNotes designs.

5. Catch up on homework and busywork

If you've been running behind on applying to internships or writing that paper that is due next week, this is the perfect chance to do so. Make a to-do list and set aside a portion of the relaxing day to be productive!

For all of those who needed a break from school and regular life, Sandy is the perfect chance so thank you mother nature, just please be kind to us! Everyone stay safe!

I've mentioned before that I am a sister of Phi Sigma Sigma and we are currently putting our new members through the new member education process.

During new member ed., the girls get their bigs and it is such an exciting time!

We got 10 new Phi Sig babies this semester and my chapter is one of the smaller national ones with only 42 sisters. We did though have a number of girls who were up for a little so I was nervous that it would get too competitive.

I was only initiated one year ago and there were plenty of older girls who had seniority over me so I didn't think I was going to get a little.

Well, I thought wrong and last week I revealed myself to my most precious and perfect little, Tina.

I spent the weekend leading up to reveal crafting for my little and it was some of the most fun (and stressful) I've experienced.

It's difficult to explain but having a little is similar to having a child, I felt like I was shopping for a new born baby.

I crafted so much and made so many different goodies for my perfect babyangel.

I went to two stores to buy my crafting supplies: Michaels and The Christmas Tree Shop.

At Michaels, I bought my paints and decorations, and a few wood and glass products. At the Christmas Tree Shop, I purchased all my picture frames and glasses that I decorated.

On the glasses, I used Sharpie Paint markers in blue, yellow, purple, and pink; they worked wonderfully and it was really easy to write out words...a lot easier than using any other type of paint.

For the wooden products such as the PSS and the pin box, I used regular acrylic paints. After painting them, I put some mod podge on top to use as a glue and sprinkled as much glitter as I could on top, making it sparkle.

The one mistake I made with the glitter was that I didn't secure the glitter with an adhesive spray so it was a mess, glitter everywhere.

One of my favorite products was the bowl I made; I made a glitter glue out of mod podge and glitter, mixed it together in a cup and then painted the inside of the bowl. I let it dry for a few hours and it came out beautifully...I've never seen anything like it.

The tradition in my chapter is to decorate a keepsake box for your little and that was another one of my favorite parts.

I really enjoyed crafting for my little; it was such a wonderful experience to give back when my own big has given me so much.

Here's two slideshows of all the crafty goods I made ! Check them out!

Getting a little is the most precious part of being in a sorority and I'm so excited for the journey that lies ahead!

The Best Moisturizer Ever

in , , , , by RoyallyPink, 3:31 PM

Yes, I know it is risky saying that something is the "best ever" but in my opinion, this Olay cream is the
best I've ever tried.

I have very dry skin, especially in the winter months but no lotion or moisturizer ever fully works for me. With the weather changing from cold to hot on daily basis, my skin has taken an even bigger beating than usual.

I'm on the budget of a college student so I needed something cheap but I also didn't want to waste my money on something that wasn't going to work.

After searching through the aisles of CVS for about a half hour, I found this product: Olay Complete All Day UV moisture cream.

It was around $6 and it's Olay so I thought it would be good...and boy was I right.

I used the cream twice before I saw results; my face was completely smooth and silky after applying the cream twice.

I was in shock and so happy with the purchase.

As I continue to use the cream, I feel the difference in my skin; it's less prone to the cold and wind and it makes my skin feel so much healthier and brighter.

The cream is not heavy, it's very light and soft so when you apply it, you don't have that feeling of lotion on your face.

As an added bonus, the cream has SPF 15 so it won't just moisturize your skin but protect it as well!

This is such a great product and I'm so happy that I bought it.

Fall/Winter Wish List

in , , , , , , , by RoyallyPink, 8:49 AM
It's nearing November and fall is in full swing. Yes, the weather has been acting up and it's cold one day and the next, you can't even wear a pair of boots because it's so hot out.

I haven't really gone fall/winter clothes shopping because I have a ridiculous amount of clothes to begin with and it's not really necessary but I still do need a few essentials.

Here are just a few of what is on my wish list for the rest of the Fall and Winter seasons:

1.

Bandolino Two Tone Riding Boot: I have wide calves so it's difficult for me to find a good pair of riding boots. I don't currently have a pair but these babies are in my near future. They are wide calf, have a little heel, and I love the two tone color, it breaks up the boot and is something different. I need these in my life, now.
2.

Gibson Equestrian Blazer: Blazers are so hot right now and I have one that I really love but you can never have too many blazers. I feel as though blazers dress up any outfit and make it look so much more polished. I love this blazer because of the cut and color, it's the perfect staple for a fall outfit.

3.

Patagonia Pull Over: I've always been a North Face jacket kind of girl mostly because that is the only winter coat I've ever really seen people wear. Now that I'm at college, I've been seeing Patagonia jackets more and more and I love them! They are a bit pricy, this pullover racking up at $120 but North Faces are just the same, and I'm due for a new jacket. These pullovers are super comfortable and will keep you extremely warm, from what I've heard. This is going on my Christmas list.

4.

Mossimo Women's ColorBlock Dress: This summer I was really into dresses and I would love for that to transfer over to the colder months. Colorblock is so in right now and I love this trend. I'm not huge on bright colors, especially in the fall and winter so this grey and black color blocked dress is perfect; pair with tights and some heels or booties and you've got yourself a kick ass outfit.

October Birchbox

in , by RoyallyPink, 1:15 PM
I love the beginning of the months now because it means Birchbox time! Seriously, this is the best thing I've ever invested in because it opens my eyes (and wallet) to new beauty products. It's also so much fun to get a little gift to start the month off right.

I haven't been able to hold out until my box arrived to check out what was inside so I've been peeking online before it actually gets to my mailbox.

I was super excited when I saw what was in this month's box!

1. Ouidad Climate Control® Heat & Humidity Gel:

I have this product already because I got it free as one of my Sephora samples when I ordered online a while ago. I never used it because I always forget I have it but now that I have another sample, I might have to use it. I'm assuming it would work well with my hair because I have such frizzy hair and the humidity is it's mortal enemy.

This stuff smells SO good. It's such an odd scent, something I've never smelt before but it's fun. It's hard to describe in words but it is definitely a perfume I'd wear and purchase.

I've been hearing more and more about highlighters for your face and eyes but I just never got around to purchasing one. The idea also confused me a little bit--what are you supposed to use it for?
That's why I was ecstatic when I saw that I got one in my box this month. This highlighter is a shimmery beige/neutral color and I've been putting it around my eyes and near my brow bone for the
past few days and I see a difference; my face just looks a little brighter and I look more awake. I love it!

Okay so I'm obsessed with lip balms and I've been meaning to find a new one for the winter months, even though I do have my favorites. This is PERFECT. It's a lip butter so it feels like a typical lip balm in the container but once you put it on your lips, it's a little thicker than usual and it makes all the difference. It has a wonderful fruity smell but it's not overpowering and you don't have to keep reapplying it. I really love this product. It was definitely my favorite.

This month's Birchbox bonus was three tea bags, a green tea, a black tea, and a nectar tea. I haven't tried any of them yet but I am a tea junkie so I'm excited to heat one of these bad boys up and see how they are.

Sunday Social

in , , by RoyallyPink, 7:41 PM

I'm linking up again for Sunday Social :)

1. Favorite childhood book

Magic Tree House books were my life from 3rd to 7th grade. I couldn't get
enough; I had the first 20 books and would just re-read them over and over again.
They were the perfect fantasy books, taking you away to a far
away land or a different period in time, it was amazing and taught me
a lot of history, without me even knowing it.

2. Favorite book lately:

Hmm...I'm in the middle of reading "Prep" by Curtis Steinfield and I'm liking it
but it's taking me a while to get through it. I think that Beth Harbison's latest book
"There's Always Something There to Remind Me" is my latest favorite.
It was so good and I could relate to it quite a bit. It was a wonderful, girly read.

3. Book you wish you could live in:

Can I be a total cliche and say "Harry Potter" because I would love to
be at Hogwarts...but really, who wouldn't?

4. If you could be any character from any book, who would it be and why?

Lily in Dash and Lily's Book of Dares because she was so wonderful
and I would love what it feels like to live a "fairytale" the way
her and Dash did. It seems like so much fun.

5. Favorite book turned movie:

I won't say Harry Potter again and I'd love to say "Perks of Being a WallFlower" but
I haven't seen the movie yet so I will just say Twilight because even though
it's corny, Twilight is the book that made me fall in
love with reading again and it has a special place in my heart.
And I LOVE the movies, I don't care what anyone says.

6. Favorite magazines:

Oh goodness! I am the magazine queen! I love Glamour, Cosmo,
Seventeen, Teen Vogue, and an occasional US Weekly or People.
All the typical girly magazines....

Until next time..

It's Okay Thursdays

in , by RoyallyPink, 9:46 AM
It's that time of the week again!! I actually really love this blogging "challenge", it's fun for me!

It's Okay...

-To feel like you need three cups of coffee to wake you up

-To feel a little powerful when you send a bitch text message

-To buy all the new magazines that are on the newsstand

-To want to take a total day off from work and school because you're over-stressed

-To be counting down the days till homecoming

-To be homesick

-To be annoyed that I still have to wait another year to turn 21

-To wait till the morning of to figure out a presentation (it's not a BIG presentation)

-To take advantage of your happy days!

What's okay with you?!

I've seen some other blogs do Pinterest Wednesdays and since I'm the biggest Pinterest addict out there, I thought I'd join in.

Here are some of my favorite pins of the day!

Um, if this is real, I'm actually going to freak out and buy 100 cartons.

Smokin Hot by Essie. This needs to be added to my collection ASAP.

People are swearing by this Mac and Cheese with garlic, goat cheese,
parmagino reggiano, white cheddar, and sour cream.

An adorable, classy, perfect Fall outfit! I need to myself a pair of riding boots.

A great tutorial on a Fun Bun; I've been wanting to do a sock bun
forever so maybe I'll try this style also!

Have fun Pinning !

A Little Inspiration

in , , , by RoyallyPink, 1:38 PM
We all need a little pick me up throughout the day and with midterms around the corner, applying for internships, and sorority stuff, my days are packed.

Here's some inspiration for your soul :)

Have a wonderful day!

Gossip Girl Fashions

in , , by RoyallyPink, 9:40 PM
In honor of the last season of Gossip Girl premiering tonight (sad face), I thought I'd honor the teenage drama by showing some of the amazing fashions over the last six seasons.

Blair is the epitome of preppy fashion while Serena is definitely more red carpet, glamorous. Jenny went from cupcake sweet to cutting edge in just a season or two and the boys are all about the suits, but it all works.

I understand that most of these are Blair but Blair is my spiritual animal and I love her
style.

Happy Gossip Girl Day!!
